EGO DEATH 2
SEPTEMBER 20, 2025 | 4PM - INTO THE NIGHT
INSIDE LINE EQUIPMENT - PT. REYES LIGHTHOUSE - ARTICHOKE BASILLE (TELEGRAPH)
1717 Fourth St, Berkeley, CA 94710
Our collective journey towards the destruction of self comes back for 2025.
Ego Death 2 brings riders out on familiar roads under unfamiliar circumstances. Leaving from ILE in the afternoon, we’ll ride into the night, up to the Pt. Reyes Lighthouse, and back to Artichoke’s for apres.
ED2 is illuminated by Knog, with lights available for demo during the ride. Ride nutrition provided by Precision Fuel & Hydration.
Meet at ILE, check out lights, get food: 3:30pm
Ride starts: 4pm
Estimated finish time: 1am
Like previous Ego Death rides, all are welcome, especially if you’re looking to push yourself and try something new. We’re shooting to be back in the East Bay as close to 1am as possible, so be ready for a steady ride with fast sections. There will be short regroups for water that we will announce before the ride.
NOTES:
1. Bring enough food for the whole ride. We will have some fuel provided by our friends at Precision Fuel & Hydration at the start, but bring food as well.
2. Think about bringing an extra light or external battery. In addition to your own lights, our friends at Knog have provided some awesome lights that some folks can try during the ride. They’re amazing lights that last a while, but battery management is an important part of riding for hours in the dark.
3. Bring any necessary equipment including lights— we will help you, but you are expected to be self-sufficient.
2. We will be on remote roads at times when there is little support if you run out of anything. It’s a good idea to have someone who knows where you are/can pick you up if something happens to your equipment that we can’t fix. We’re not sure how many Ubers will come out to the PR Lighthouse at midnight.
ALL RIDERS MUST SIGN THE WAIVER
All ages welcome, 21+ for drinks, bring ID.
About Ego Death
Ego Death is a series we started in 2024 with the goal of creating ride experiences that are challenging and travel to new places around the Bay. The ultimate goal of ED is to work as one, riders bequeathing their effort to the common goal of getting everyone through the ride together. This ride style is the outpouring of an AFAIC tenet, "Distress is Information," where together we look to subvert (or invert) paradigms in cycling about the goals and purpose of riding less as a competitive practice and more as a spiritual, intellectual, and communal experience.
